Jerry Dell Hayenga

February 20, 1944May 11, 2020

Jerry Dell Hayenga born February 20, 1944 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Lester and Virginia (Davis) Hayenga passed away May 11, 2020 in Omaha, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carol (Hayenga) Krenz, brother-in-law Roger. Survived by wife Sharon (Hummel) Hayenga, sister Jean Surdez, sister-in-law Nancy Weaver (Dave), nieces & nephews: Monica Bader (Dan), Shirley Krenz, Ron Krenz (Lori), Nancy Solsaa (Troy), Cynthia Winters, Virginia Severson (LeRoy), Todd Weaver, David Weaver (Amy) and numerous grand nieces and nephews. Jerry graduated from high school in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and attended one year of college. After college, he spent 4 1/2 years in the Air Force. Jerry and Sharon were married in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and lived most of their 51 years of marriage in Omaha, Nebraska. Jerry worked at Energy Systems, retiring in 2009. During his retirement, he enjoyed playing the organ, going to various nursing homes to entertain the residents. He also enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles and visiting with his friends at a local cigar shop. His greatest enjoyment was going to the family cabin at Lake Madison, South Dakota. In lieu of flowers- memorials can be made to a Hospice Organization of your choice. A Private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Especially to Jean: I remember the Hayenga family quite well. If I remember right, I had Jerry in third grade at Bancroft School. Also, remember all the Artex painting. So sorry to hear of your loss.
