Whenever John would have the Saturday morning Communion Service just before the final blessing he would pause and thank all of us for our prayers. He then would give a little update on his health. It was so personal and he made us feel a part of his life. Our prayers were not answered in the way we had hoped but God's plans are different than ours. It is hard to let go of someone you love so much but I'm sure John is enjoying his eternal reward where there is no more suffering.
