Jonathan Paul Galardi was born on January 13, 1968 in Ridgewood, New Jersey, to Thomas E. and Erna C. Galardi, and passed away on June 18, 2026 in Papillion, Nebraska. He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Erna Galardi, and his beloved rat terriers, Mattie and Mia. He is survived by brothers Matthew, Gregory (Marcia Ann), Joseph, Christopher, Luke (Marcia Colleen) and sister Mara Reyna (Robert), nieces Stephanie Irons (Brandon), Lauren Durr (Ryan), Marissa Galardi (Patrick), Sophia Sprinkel (Tyler), Cecilia Galardi, nephews Andrew Galardi (Grace), Jonah Galardi, Aidan Reyna, Roman Reyna, and great-nephews Jackson Irons, Jasper Irons, Rockwell Durr and great-niece, Gianna Irons.
Jon attended St. Columbkille and St. Bernadette Elementary Schools, Daniel J. Gross High School, building on his firm dedication to the Catholic faith. He then attended University of Nebraska at Omaha where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and Spanish, and later received a Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management and Accounting from Western Governor’s University. He also graduated from the Spanish Institute of Puebla in Puebla, Mexico, and was fluent in Spanish. Jon worked at Target in Loss Prevention during college at UNO and upon graduation, he relocated to the Target Corporate Office in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he lived until 2015. During his Target career he received numerous accolades for exceptional performance while traveling the country overseeing and installing loss prevention systems and serving as an investigator. Upon returning to Nebraska in 2015, Jon completed his MBA at Western Governor’s University and transitioned to working in accounting for a variety of organizations in Nebraska, Kansas and Iowa in financial accounting, where again he was consistently recognized for exceptional performance.
Jon was an extraordinarily committed weightlifter and a visit to his home reflected weightlifting and work out equipment in lieu of the typical furniture one might expect, along with religious pictures, Spanish and English bibles, and other signs of his active Catholic faith. During his free time he immensely enjoyed his rat terriers, Mattie and Mia, and spent numerous hours taking walks with them and enjoying their company. To his nieces and nephews he was the kind and gentle giant uncle, standing 6’3” and 275 pounds of sculptured weightlifter, yet was careful, cautious, and fun loving in his interactions with them.
Unfortunately and unexpectedly, Jon passed away from natural causes which left family and friends wondering “Why” and grieving his untimely death. We will miss his quiet and stoic nature, his dedicated approach to living a healthy lifestyle, his commitment to his Catholic faith, and his ability to light up a room when he walked into it.
A private family memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Luke Galardi to assist with family needs and future memorial considerations.
