Joe spent his early years in New York, where he developed a strong sense of family, community, and service. After graduating from high school, he answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Air Force. His dedication and commitment led him to Offutt Air Force Base, where he would spend the next 22.5 years of service and the remainder of his life in Omaha. Joe served with honor and distinction, earning the respect of his peers and superiors alike. He was proud of his time at Offutt, often joking, “once you’re on it, you don’t get Offutt,” a testament to the lasting impact the base and his service had on his life.
Upon his honorable discharge, Joe transitioned to civilian life and continued his career at DTN (Data Transmission Network). There, he brought the same work ethic, integrity, and sense of purpose that had defined his military service. Joe’s colleagues remember him as a dedicated professional, a mentor, and a friend who could always be counted on for support and guidance.
Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth Augeri, who passed away in 2017. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their bond was an inspiration to all who knew them.
Joe is survived by his loving children: Christina (husband Edwin Lile), Mario, and Andrea (husband Chad Frakes); his cherished grandchildren: Casandra (fiancé Anthony), Jaidon (fiancé Cody), Dalton, Valarie (fiancé Jason), Mkena, Levi, Tristan, and Aubriana; and his adored great-grandchildren: Sariah, Melina, Gino, Keegan, Kinslee, Rhylen, Stella, Kenedee, and Avianna. He was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, always putting his family first and taking great pride in their accomplishments and happiness.
Joe will be remembered for his unwavering strength, his generous spirit, and his deep love for his family and friends. He had a remarkable ability to bring people together, to offer a helping hand, and to share a kind word or a hearty laugh. His legacy of service, resilience, and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
He will be deeply missed, but his memory will be cherished forever.
