Kathlyn Helen Meeves

From the beginning, Kathlyn’s life was shaped by close ties and steady love. The fifth of seven children, she grew up in Millard, Nebraska, and graduated from Millard Public School in 1950. She carried forward a thoughtful attentiveness to others that would become one of the clearest signatures of her life.

Kathlyn built a dependable working life as a bookkeeper for Millard Public Schools and Boys Town. Her commitment and dedication were evident in all she did. She showed up, followed through, and offered the kind of quiet steadiness that people come to rely on.

In 1951, she married Leland Meeves, who preceded her in death in 2013. Above all, Kathlyn was beloved for the way she loved: fully, faithfully, and with her greatest joy rooted in her family. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Jacobsen (1969); her grandson, Tyler Jacobsen (1999); and her granddaughter, Megan Jacobsen (2001).

Kathlyn’s days were brightened by the simple, meaningful pleasures she shared with others—sewing, playing cards and games, and spending time with family and friends. Many will remember her love of a good card and/or board game and the spirited competitive streak she brought to the table. The twinkle in her bright, blue eyes, the friendly rivalry, and the quick wit remain as lasting gifts. There are many memories filled with laughter and fun.

She also gave her time and heart to the communities that mattered to her. Kathlyn was a Gold Star Sister, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Red Hat Society. Through these connections, she nurtured friendships with genuine interest and enduring kindness. She was devoted to people, and thoughtful in the ways she stayed close.

Kathlyn never missed an opportunity to celebrate others, often sending cards and notes to mark milestones and keep relationships strong. Her legacy is one of love and thoughtfulness, of friendship and the meaningful connections she carefully tended throughout her life. She is an uplifting reminder that small acts, repeated with sincerity, become a life well lived.

Kathlyn is preceded in death by her Husband, Leland V. Meeves; Parents, Joseph Paustian, Sr. and Frances Zeller; Siblings, Gaynell (Richard) Grant, Joseph Paustian, Jr. (who was killed in WW2 at age 19), Frances Paustian, Keiffer (Alice) Paustian, and Eleanor (Bill) Beavers; and her Brother-in-Law, Mennis Eplin.

She is survived by her Daughter, Pamela Jacobsen (Scott Wedergren); Grandchildren, Tyler Jacobsen (Parker Doughty) and Megan Jacobsen (Grant Heider); Sister, Betty Eplin; and many other family members and friends.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the OnCare Hospice and Palliative Care team for their compassionate care, comfort, and support during Mom’s final year. We are also deeply thankful to the many friends and family members who visited, shared memories, and surrounded her with love and companionship in her final days. A special thank you to Pastor Dan at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for his prayers, guidance, and spiritual care, which brought comfort and peace to both Mom and our family. Everyone's kindness and support during this time will always be remembered.

VISITATION will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 13271 Millard Ave, Omaha, 68137, on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, with a FUNERAL SERVICE at 11:00 am. PRIVATE COMMITTAL SERVICE at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Omaha.
