Leonard Louis Szatko, was born September 21, 1952 in Genoa, NE to Rose(Nowak) and Steven Szatko.
Leonard graduated from Ralston High School in 1970 and then started drywalling in 1971 with Tompkins Drywall. He took great pride in his work for 48 years and finally retired in 2019.
Leonard and Carol were married for 45 years. They had 3 children, Jaime, Jacob and Jessica. He was an active member of Wildewood Christian Church.
Leonard loved being outdoors and working. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the farm. He took great joy in sharing these loves with his grandchildren. He also attended his grandchildren’s activities. As he said, “He can rest when he dies.”
Leonard departed this life June 27, 2020 surrounded by family at his home. He lost his fight with pancreatic cancer and fought courageously until the end. He was one to never give up. He was preceded in death by his father, Steven Szatko, his brother, Joseph Szatko, and his grandparents, Louis and Elizabeth Nowak and James and Victoria Szatko.
Leonard leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Carol, his children, Jaime(Ronnie) Tex of Papillion, Jacob Szatko of Florida, Jessica(Brandon) York of Texas, 5 grandchildren, Baylee, Rylee, Lucas, Wyatt and Gunner, his mother, Rose Skocz of Papillion, his 2 sisters, Teresa(Don) Theobald of Red Cloud and Barb(Tim) Ellis of Omaha, and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation, Wednesday, July 1, 2020 4-8 with family present from 6-8 Kahler-Dolce Mortuary Funeral service, Thursday, July 2, 2020 10:00 a.m. at Wildewood Christian Church in Papillion, NE.
