Leslie Roy Andersen, known to many as Les, passed away on November 15, 2025, at the age of 70. Born on October 16, 1955, in Grand Island, Nebraska, Les was a beloved and adventurous soul, known for his kind-hearted and humorous nature.
Les began his education at District 8 in Central City, Nebraska, before moving with his family to Papillion, Nebraska, in May of 1967. He graduated from Papillion La Vista High School in 1975. From high school until his retirement in 2019, Les worked as a finish carpenter, impressing many with his amazing woodworking skills.
In December of 1983, Les married Frances A. Hickock, who sadly passed away in 1987. He never remarried. Les was preceded in death by his wife Fran (Hickock) Andersen, parents Roy and Mildred Andersen, sister La Donna M. Andersen, brothers Lloyd R. Andersen and La Verne C. Andersen, and brothers-in-law Frank Schlosser and Dave Hetrick. He is survived by his sisters Linda (Schlosser) Burkley and Laura Hetrick, as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Les had a passion for Hot Wheels and NASCAR, having raced for many years at I-80 and Eagle raceways. He also had a deep love for animals, especially cats. Shortly before his passing, he considered volunteering at the Humane Society, though he worried about bringing too many animals home to his sister Lori.
Les was known as a prankster who enjoyed life, particularly in the late afternoon, as he was the family night owl. His humorous and compassionate spirit will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone who cared for and loved Les. They cherish the good memories and look forward to reuniting with him in heaven when God calls them home.
A service to celebrate Les's life will be held on Saturday, December 6th, at 10:00 a.m. at Park Lane Baptist Church, 5550 N 60th Ave, Omaha, NE 68104.
