Marlies or Omi was born in Duisburg, Germany on April 13, 1932, to Berta Landscheidt. Omi had 3 siblings, Dieter, Horst and Uta. Omi passed away June 10, 2024, at the age of 92 surrounded by her 5 boys and other family.
Omi grew up near Duren, Germany. Their house was bombed during WWII and the family was evacuated as the Battle of the Bulge approached. The family had many struggles to survive and find food during WWII.
At age 23, Omi met American Frank Bramhall who was in the US Air Force. They were married in Frankfurt in 1955 and shortly after moved to the United States to Frank’s hometown of Minneapolis. In 1956, son Frank was born.
They moved 5 times in the first 4 years of marriage from Minneapolis to Caroll, IA, to El Paso, TX to Durango, CO and Albuquerque, NM. In 1957 a second son, Scott, was born. They finally settled in Omaha in 1961.
Sons Marc, Mike and Greg were born in Omaha from 1961 to 1964. They moved into a house on Parkview Lane in 1964 and Omi lived there for 56 years until 2020.
The marriage ended in 1973 and Omi got a job selling furniture at JC Penney at the Westroads. In 1984 she moved to the Nebraska Furniture Mart. Omi worked at NFM for 33 years from 1984 until 2017, finally retiring at age 84!
Most important to Omi was family. She loved and enjoyed her 5 sons and daughters-in-law and always put them first over herself. Omi was greatly loved by her 10 grandchildren, their significant others, and her great grandchildren. To Omi, family was everything! Omi will be greatly missed by her entire family and many friends.
