He attended country school at District #40, Lorton School and graduated from Talmage High School in 1945.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed Church (McWilliams United Church of Christ), Talmage.
He entered the Army and proudly served his country from 1951 to 1953. His military service included being stateside and in Japan. He remained close to his military buddies throughout his life.
On September 10, 1955 he married his best friend, Joyce Schobert at the St. Paul’s Methodist Church in Papillion, Nebraska. They celebrated their 60th anniversary at the same church.
He was a farmer and knew how to work hard while still having fun. His mechanical ability included repairing his daughters’ dolls and rebuilding tractors. His family and John Deere tractors were “deere” to him. His hunting buddies and faithful dog, Koko, were a particular joy to him. He had a twinkle in his baby blue eyes and a sparkling smile. His positive spirit, honesty, humor and integrity were always present.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Nebraska City, Nebraska where he served as a deacon.
Those left to honor his legacy are his two daughters, Susan Siepelmeier and Jane Siepelmeier (husband Craig Prauner) who were blessed to be born into the family. The blessings were tripled with the addition of being “Papa” to grandchildren: Kimberlyn, Mark William and Brooklyn each of which shared a part of his name.
The family enjoyed daily life and many travels together making remarkable memories along the way.
There will be a private service with military honors.
Memorial to families choice.
