Michael’s early years were shaped by service and sacrifice. His father, an Air Force member, died when Michael was 15 years old due to an engine malfunction while on a training mission. Michael attended Fayetteville High School in Arkansas, where he played on the football team and swam—bringing the same steady determination to both field and pool.
Michael went on to serve in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of captain. He worked at Offutt for most of his career, carrying his responsibilities with a conscientious spirit and a deep sense of duty. Throughout his life, he was known for choosing what was right—even when it was the harder path—and for doing so with quiet integrity.
Michael was a devoted father to his two sons, Cory and Alex. He had five grandchildren, Knox, Lexi, Graham, Garrett, and Allison. He was the son of Albert and Genevie, and a brother to Bill, Steve, and Debra. Those who knew him best will remember not only his principled nature, but also the warmth he brought into everyday moments—his kind heart, his unmistakable laugh, and the gentle humor that could lighten a room without ever diminishing what mattered.
Faith was central to Michael’s life. He was passionate about God and very involved with his church life, living his beliefs with compassion and constancy. He also took pride in his military career and found joy in the things that made him smile: Harley Davidson, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and time spent bowling with his two sons. He enjoyed going to the movies, and he always had to get popcorn—an endearing habit that family and friends will remember with affection.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 am to 11:30 am on June 24, 2026, followed by a Funeral Service at 11:30 am at Kahler Dolce Mortuary, 441 North Washington Street, Papillion, NE. A Committal Service with military honors will follow at 1:30 pm at Omaha National Cemetery, 14250 Schram Rd, Omaha, NE.
The family would like to thank the staff of Eastern Nebraska Veterans Home and Fountain View Senior Living for their care with Michael throughout his progression with dementia.
“The long, exhausting fog has lifted, leaving you in pure undisturbed light. No more weary mind - only endless peace and perfect rest.”
