OBITUARY

Richard Anthony Foral Jr.

July 24, 1953July 8, 2020

Richard Anthony Foral, Jr. was born on Friday, July 24, 1953 at the old St. Joseph Hospital to Richard Anthony Foral, Sr. and Mary Ann (Sullivan) Foral. Rick was baptized at St. Agnes Church, where he also attended grade school. He went on to Ryan High School where he met a great group of friends who to this day, continue to meet Friday mornings for breakfast. He graduated in 1971 and attended the University of Nebraska-Omaha where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. After graduation he was hired by Postal Finance in Omaha but wanted to move to a larger city where there were professional sports. So he applied for a job in their California office and was accepted. In 1976 he and Mike Gomez packed up his Nova and drove to Pasadena, California. He then applied, was hired and worked for Walt Disney. Rick worked as the Credit and Collections manager there for 15 years. While there, he welcomed his first two children, Mike and Pat. A few, short years later, Rick returned to Omaha where he welcomed his daughter, Colleen. It wasn’t long before Rick got hired at Nebraska Furniture Mart as the Credit Manager; he was employed there for 26 years and retired on his birthday in 2019. Rick enjoyed many things, some of which included: rooting on the New York Yankees, camping with his buddies in Louisville, NE, playing horseshoes with his high school friends along the Elkhorn River, going to Platte River State Park with his family and, most of all, spending time with his grand-children. His two grandchildren, Landon and Everett, were the lights of Rick’s life and he looked forward to spending time with them along with taking them to Graley’s to get ice cream. Rick’s family would like to thank the many friends that he had: those who attended Ryan High, his camping crew, his California/Disney friends along with his NFM family. A very special thank you to the staff at Papillion Manor, who did anything and everything for Rick to make him feel comfortable and at-home (especially amid the COVID-19 pandemic).

I worked with Rick for many years at Nebraska Furniture Mart and knew him to be the kind, caring man everyone describes him to be. I retired a little over a month before Rick did, and on my last day I passed down to him my "Days to Retirement" board. After working hard for so many years, I find the life of retirement to be "the best thing ever", and I wish Rick could have enjoyed more of these carefree days with the family he loved. He is watching all of you from the heavens above and still with you every day in your hearts and memories.
My prayers and sincere condolences to Rick's family and to all who will miss him.

Colleen, Mike and Pat~
Our heart aches for you on the loss of your dad. Rick was truly “the Best of the Best!” We know that kind, humble, caring, spiritual man went straight to heaven and is now forever by your side as your guardian angel. He raised some pretty awesome kids into some truly fantastic young adults. He is so very proud of you three. I could not even count the number of times I dropped Abby off at your home to hang with her “best friend”, Colleen. Or the countless times Rick dropped Colleen off at our home for endless sleepovers and chatted with Dave in the driveway. Rick always treated our Abby as his own daughter and we will forever treat Colleen as our “bonus” daughter. We know that Rick is not suffering anymore and he is in heaven with his own father. Cherish the many many memories and know that your dad is with you always. What a truly great man who you are blessed to call “dad”. Always and forever in our prayers. Always and forever here for you. Love you all. Christy Pietryga and family

We found great comfort when Michael (Rick’s oldest Son) came in to our Daughter’s life, knowing Michael had been raised by such a loving, caring, and attentive father. We found peace knowing that Jenna would too have Rick in her life. We love that family always came first in Rick’s world. We know that Rick’s memory will continue on in his 3 wonderful children and these memories and values will be passed on to his grandchildren. Much love and prayers to you all during this very very difficult time . Love you all, Paul and Ronette Steffes

Always a polite and professional gentleman. Rick is a person you can honestly say is "good people". May your journey to the Great Spirit be on the wings of birds. May the loss felt by your friends and loved ones heal quickly and your memory remain in their hearts forever.

I enjoyed the great freindship that I found with my fellow staff member. He was always willing to assist me with any credit issues.
His smile will forever shine thru the clouds, and not be forgotten.
One of my found memories is seeing Rick at the Mavs Hockey games. where he always acknowledge me with a strong handshake,
saying hello Mr. John.
God bless your family at this time of sorrow.
Your Hockey Buddy Mitcher.
