Ruth Marie Nathan was born on August 26, 1932 to Bill and Anna (Fredrick-Knapp, Koenig). She was the only child. She grew up on a farm by Meadow Grove, Nebraska and attended Mt. Hope School, then graduated from Meadow Grove High School. When her parents moved to Papillion on October 26, 1954, she went along so she could take care of them. Ruth did domestic work in Battle Creek, then also in Papillion, besides babysitting and working at Paul’s Drug Store. Later in life, she took care of the neighbors’ animals, fed and gave water to the birds, watered flowers and watched over her parents’ place while they were gone. She had a real simple life but enjoyed every minute of it being with her friends. But most of all, taking care of her first Grandson Garrett after Vernon’s death.
Ruth was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Papillion in 1932. Confirmed at Buffalo Creek Church, Tilden on April 14, 1946. Got married to Vernon Nathan from Battle Creek on July 6, 1957 at First Lutheran. They were married 34 years when Vernon passed away. To this union, three children were born. She was a member of First Lutheran.
Ruth is survived by Sons David and Rodney (Lisa), and Grandchildren Garrett, Tommy, Gunnar, Mitchell, and Katie.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband Vernon, and Infant Son Steven.
