Shirley Frances (Schmidt) Ranney

Shirley was born in Douglas County, Nebraska August 20, 1928 to John & Irene (Schowengedt) Lee. She grew up in Omaha with four sisters. She married Marvin Schmidt in 1948 and raised three boys and a daughter in Papillion. Shirley was active at Christ Community Church and sang in the choir. After the death of Marvin in 1989, she later married Joe Ranney in 2005, and the two of them resided in Omaha during their final years. Joe died in 2018. Shirley died at her home on October 27, 2021.

Shirley will be remembered for her hospitality, love of beauty, nature, birds, flowers, and music. She loved to do puzzles, play games, and enjoy meals with friends and family. She actively studied the Bible, and she loved ant trusted the Lord.

Shirley is survived by her sister Connie, her daughter Nancy and son Robert, her grandchildren Mike (Anneke) and Rick (Brenda), great-grandchildren Emma, Ethan, Audrey, Colin, and Tessa. She was preceded in death by her first husband Marvin Schmidt and second husband Joseph Ranney, sons David, John, and Larry, sisters Gladys, Gracie, and Mary Ann.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: November 12th at 10:30am at Christ Community Church, 404 S 108th Ave, Omaha, NE 68154. Memorials suggested to Wycliff Bible Translators, The Gideons International, or Assure Women’s Center.
