Stephanie Lyn Hemminger Fredrick was born on November 3, 1969, at Hammond Henry District Hospital in Geneseo, Illinois. She was the daughter of her parents, John and Pat Hemminger, whom she loved and admired. Born and raised in Geneseo, Stephanie spent all her childhood there and loved living in a small town that was full of tradition. She lived in South Country Estates in her younger years and some of her dearest childhood friends and greatest influences came from that time in her life. She later moved to Country Manor, where she experienced quality time in her teenage and college years.
Stephanie was blessed to be in a family that loved to travel and take vacations. Some of her favorite places she visited were DisneyWorld, SeaWorld, Texas, California, White Water Rafting in Colorado, Washington, D.C., Yellowstone National Park, and of course, Hawaii. Stephanie traveled to Europe on a choir tour and spoke fondly of people all around the world.
Stephanie graduated from J.D. Darnall High School in 1987 and later attended Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minnesota where she earned bachelors degrees in Youth Ministry and Bible. Stephanie remained close to many of her classmates throughout the years and cherished their friendship.
She met and fell in love with Douglas Allen Fredrick. The two of them were married on August 31, 1991. They began their family in Minnesota and later moved to southwest Missouri where they lived for nearly 20 years. The Ozarks became, and in many ways continues to be home for the family. In 2014, they moved to the Omaha, Nebraska area. Stephanie always excelled at meeting new people and formed a sincere interest in people’s life everywhere she lived. Doug and Stephanie were married for 31 years and made countless memories along the journey. Together, they were the parents of Kaelie, Hunter, Delany, and Caiden. She always wanted to be a mother to four children, and that wish was granted. Stephanie would always say “God heard my heart” when speaking about her children. She was a loving Grandmother, Aunt, Daughter In-Law, Sister In-Law, Cousin, and the sweetest friend you could hope for.
Stephanie believed her mission in life was to honor God and enrich the lives of children. She was affectionately known as “MamaFred”, a nickname she fully embraced. She was known for being a bright light and a warm presence to children of all ages. She was also particularly caring and affectionate to new mothers. She never hesitated to build confidence and share loving wisdom to anyone she met.
Stephanie had a remarkable laugh and cheerfulness that spread to others. She had a tendency to giggle at moments that normal people would consider to be “inappropriate”. This made people around her laugh as well and it was common for her to leave the room to “let her laughs out”. Her humor was exquisite, and her charm dignified.
She was genuine, kind, prayerful, loved to laugh, and dearly loved people from all walks of life. She lived life well and she finished life well. It was a joy to be in her presence and to experience such an amazing life. In every way imaginable, Stephanie will be missed
