Trey Thompson

Trey’s life was marked by steady courage, a gentle kind of strength, and loyalty that made people feel safe, seen, and truly loved. In the ways that mattered most—showing up, sharing a laugh, offering a hand, he was deeply cherished and profoundly loved.

From early on, Trey carried a determined spirit. His early achievements included his black belt in taekwondo and the MDA Achievement Award—milestones that reflected not only hard work and resilience, but the quiet bravery he brought to every challenge.

Trey was a beloved uncle and godfather to Ryan who he was very proud of. He was a great brother to Ward and brother-in-law to Tammi. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gretchen Mullin & (stepfather) Rick Mullin; and father, William H. Thompson. He is survived by his stepmother, Diane Thompson; and many loving family and friends.

Trey found joy in the people and pastimes that filled his days with meaning. He loved Husker football and volleyball and looked forward to getting his Husker calendar. He also loved going to Union Omaha Soccer games with his family and hanging out with Omaha Parliament. He loved playing cards with his friends at Walnut Grove. He always loved spending time with Ryan going to his soccer games and special events. He enjoyed going to movies with Tammi, Ward, and Ryan. Horse Racing at Walnut Grove. Golfing. He loved holidays and spending time with family. Through it all, his humor and generous heart made ordinary moments feel like something to look forward to.

We would like to thank Walnut Grove for help making his life joyful, St. Martha's Episcopal Church for their spiritual support and guidance, and all the care staff at UNMC.

Those who knew Trey will remember how compassionate and selfless he was with friends and family—and the way he could make a room lighter simply by being in it. He left a legacy by donating his organs to help others, a final act of devotion and kindness that speaks to who he was at his core: faithful in care, gentle in spirit, and inspirational in the way he put others first. He would always call his brother Ward and say, “Hey Bro I got big news for you.” He would also just call randomly and talk about anything. Thank you to family and friends for making Trey’s life great and worthy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Kahler Dolce Mortuary, 441 North Washington Street, Papillion, NE, 68046 on September 25, 2026, at 10:30 am.
