We were saddened to hear the news of Virgil's passing. We enjoyed getting to visit and catching up at Christmas several years back. We had some memorable times years ago while working for the phone company as well. Our prayers , thoughts , and sincerest condolences to his family.
As we are out of town for the week, we will be not be able to attend the service.

Virgil and memories! We have a lot of memories! Virgil, Scott and myself spent a lot of time together when our married children were younger, went to church, sat around the fire pit, had dinners, sat out on our deck many nights laughing, playing guess the 80s music and it goes on. We did a financial class together and the joke about me was I purchased a laminator on clearance and it was considered not necessary. Virgil would always ask or bring up my laminator, and we would laugh. The funniest memory was when we were out on our deck and Virgil bent back to relax and he went crashing down in the chair! I was laughing and yelling are you ok? He and Scott was laughing! Good times!

I worked with Virgil at Coldwell Banker NHS. There was never a time that I saw him that he did not have that cooked little smile for me. He was one of the most good natured, kind hearted men I had ever met. I will miss him checking up on me. Doris and family - my thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. I know he was so happy he had found you and married. You were the bright spot in his live.
My most sincere condolences.

Since the very first day Josh brought me home to Papillion, Virgil welcomed me with open arms. Not only did he welcome me but he welcomed my children. I wish I had more pictures of him but he was ALWAYS the one behind the camera. He took our very first family photo when we became a family of 5. And if you know Virgil then you know there were 100 different angles and different vignettes. He not only captured but created many beautiful memories.

I met Virgil a few years ago when I started to learn Brazilian jujitsu. He always had a smile and an easy going way about him.
When we would train together you could tell by his grip he was a man with confidence. He always knew what I was gonna do, his smirk would tell me, it wasn’t gonna work. It was enjoyable training with you Virgil, I will miss our after class conversations as well.
I later saw him with his family, you could tell he loved them very much.
So many people will miss you Virgil
I pray for Doris and your whole family

Virgil and I met at church some 15 years ago and really got to know each during, and mostly after men’s bible study. We became good friends and our families got together often. Often enough that his son Riley and my daughter Ashley fell in love and now we part of each other’s family. He loves his family very much and you could tell how proud he was of all his kids and loves and adores his grandchildren. In one of his last texts to me he was walking through the basement of the old Trinity Church that we used to serve in. All he could see was nerf wars. Man we had a lot of great times with the kids. Prayers for comfort and healing for his wife and family. I love you brother and you will be missed.

So grateful that Virgil and I reconnected a few years back. I worked at the golf club that Doris's work Christmas party was held (a couple years in a row). As soon as Virgil walked in it felt as though no time had passed as we reminisced and caught up about kids and life.
Virgil was, without a doubt, remarkable in his kindness and gentleness. He was proud of his kids and enjoyed talking about them all. He was excited to be a grandparent and I am sure he did it well.
I will miss our run ins (the most recent in October at a local brewery), they were not as often as I would have liked but enough to remind me that friendships built in Christ's love are forever.
My love to the family, my heart hurts for time lost. Thankful that you will be reunited someday. Tina Persinger

Virgil,
It truly has been a blessing to know you and call you a friend. Your quick wit and humor was so impressive. I'll never forget the youth group trip to Minnesota in 2012 (a few pics below) and what a steady, calming influence you were. Your faith in god was evident and I admired you for that. We kind of lost touch the past few years but whenever I ran into you it was as if no time at all had passed.
I appreciated you friendship buddy.
Till we meet again,
Melissa Santiago

I was shocked and saddened to hear of Virgil’s sudden passing. I wish his family my deepest condolences. It was almost a year ago, in February, when I last saw Virgil during a work visit to Omaha. As soon as I walked in the room, he was the first person to come up to me and say hello and then he gave me a bear hug :) . I’m glad I got an opportunity to see him and get a hug from him one last time. Thank you for being my co-worker at Schnackel Engineers. You’ll always be remembered, Virgil. May you rest in peace.

From the first time I looked into your eyes, I loved you! That twinkle stole my heart. For the past 8 years I have loved you with every breath I take. All I want is to be with you, our forever was too short for me, so until the Lord brings me home to be with you there, I will carry you in my heart. Every day we spent together loving each other more with each passing day. You are my best friend, my lover, my Hero, the bravest, kindest ( yet stubborn) man I have ever known. Thank you for each day. Thank you for being a Father to Carson and I am so proud of you for teaching him to be a man, the ball games, vacation, Church, technology, the dogs, the car, you loved us and taught us and cared for us, mostly our life was simple and quiet, that gentle hum of routine could be heard in our home, but love grew here, it will remain.
Be at peace my love, until we meet again.
Love and Respect,
Your Wife forever Doris Butcher

We have lived next to Virgil since 2007. When we moved in, we had two little girls. When Virgil was outside he would come next door and play peek-a-boo over the fence. We have four girls now and as they have grown, Virgil always popped over the fence to say hello or make a silly face at them.
I worked with Virgil for a few years at CB and we were able to spend time together at Realtor events. His kindness and willinessly to help others made a large impact on the business as well as other employees.
Virgil loved his boys and I remember when they started driving, he came over to wish us all luck on the road. He had a great sense of humor. Adam and I had no doubt about how much he loved his children. When he met Doris, he would often share how amazing she is. Virgil was so in love with her. He would talk about how proud he was of her and her aesthetic career. He said she was a woman of God and that God knew he needed her.
His time on Earth was short, but his impact on those who knew him was large.

Virgil and I worked together at Schnackel Engineers, Inc. He was always very nice with helping me troubleshoot our internet or connections blindly from Pasadena, CA. His first questions was always "Did you restart your computer?" I heard that a lot. My condolences to the family. He will definitely be missed but never forgotten.
