

Carl W. “Tooter” Melton, 90, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at his home. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 24th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Burrow officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Carl, the son of Harry Vetaw Melton & Winnie Myrtle Bolton Melton, was born Feb. 15, 1927, in Biardstown. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Carl’s career at Westinghouse/Phillips Lighting spanned many years before his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Lamar Avenue Church of Christ. He loved the outdoors including hunting, fishing, camping with his family and playing 42. On May 24, 1947, he married Andy Christine Hutchings, building 52 years of family and memories before her death on April 30, 1999. He was also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and a sister. Survivors include two sons, Roger Melton & wife Ginger of Nacogdoches and Doug Melton of Paris, one daughter, Christi Clark of Annona, six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one brother and one sister along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. The family will be at Carl’s home, 2230 E. Cherry St. and will gather at Lamar Avenue Church of Christ following the funeral service. Casket bearers will be: Monty Melton, Cory Melton, Charles Smith, Martin Wheeler, Michael Huggins and Casey Clark. Honorary bearers will be: Andy Melton and Roan Clark.
