OBITUARY

Daniel Ray Lewis

June 7, 1951January 7, 2021

Daniel Ray Lewis "Danny", age 69, passed away January 7, 2021 at Paris Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas. Danny was born in Durant, Oklahoma to Joseph D Lewis, and Eneree Lewis, both deceased. He was a graduate of Durant High School.

Danny is survived by his dedicated wife of 52 years, Violet Anderson Lewis. A son, Joseph Lewis, daughter, Heather Clark, son-in-law, Greg Clark, and two grandsons, Preston and Evan "Deut" Clark.

He was very close to Violet's family. His mother-in-law, Nita Anderson, of Boswell, Oklahoma was like a mother to him, as was his father-in-law, Elton "Pete" Anderson like a father (now deceased).

Danny adored his big brother, Buddy Cozart, from Washington state (now deceased).

He has three surviving sisters: Betty Hahn, of Denison, Texas, Diana Adams of Durant, Oklahoma, and Joella Comp of Springfield, Missouri, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Danny had a long career in a job he loved with Champions Marketing in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was a successful Manufacturers' Representative.

He loved working outside landscaping the yard, and there wasn't anything he couldn't do in the way of building things in his home. He had a natural ability for mechanical work, which he put to good use in home projects.

Danny had a special companion while he was ill. A beloved cat named Criquit.

All of the family will miss Danny's big, strong hugs when saying hello, his smile and that slow Texas drawl. He will be forever missed.

Bright-Holland Funeral Home in Paris, Texas respectfully cared for Danny's cremation.

I always felt a special bond with both Uncle Danny and Aunt Violet. Think it was because our birthdays are all June 7th.
When I think of him I also picture a smile on his face and always remember whenever he was about to say something funny he’d be,I guess what you’d call “laugh talking “?
He’d be kinda be laugh-giggling while he was saying whatever it was that was funny to him that he wanted to share.
Not a bad memory exist of my times with him and he is and will continue to be loved by me his nephew! Love you Uncle Danny, now go do whatever you were needed for out there.

It was 15 years ago the first time I met Danny. Like me, he was making a sales call to a wholesale account we had in common. Danny was supper nice to me even though we were competitors at the time. After he left our mutual customer told me Danny was the reason he did not by pumps from Champions. Well, it didn't take long for me to realize that was a common theme in North and even South Texas.

Without getting into details, six years later Danny came to work for Champions as our go to pump guy. The best thing about him is he was a wonderful and gracious teacher. He taught our team how to size pumps, how to troubleshoot pumps and how to start up pumps. He was so giving in his knowledge and personality. It was my hope that he would make Champions known for pumps and he did just that.

I was proud to have Danny on our team and to call him a friend. I cannot say enough about his character and his commitment to the ones he cared about. I'll miss you dearly.

Danny was the father to my daughter in law Heather Lewis Clark. Danny had a great love for animals. He loved sitting on his big front porch and try to make friends with feral cats as they'd come along. He was good at it too. I think his greatest love and pride and joy would be his grandsons, Preston & "Deut". I hope Danny knew how many people loved him. He will be missed.

Uncle Dan, my favorite memory of you has to be our visits with your brother ( Bud). Nice conversations, your slow Texas drawl and smile. You were so comforting to me. Love you Uncle Dan

I was 12 years old when Danny joined our family. He never treated me like a kid, always respected my feelings. He won my heart and became a loved brother to me. Will always have great memories of him. Glad he was part of our family.
