David Hunter Cook, 72, of Slabtown, passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled graveside services for 10:00 a.m. Friday, Sept. 12th, at Bogata Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Mackey officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Cook, the son of Newt & Ruby Mae Hoover Cook, was born March 11, 1942, in Deport. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School and was a long-haul truck driver during his career. David was a member of Masonic Lodge #27. His mother, Ruby Mae Cook, preceded him in death. Survivors include his father, Newt Cook, of Slabtown, three children, David Brian Cook of San Diego, CA, Tracy Dewayne Cook of Houston and Johnny Hunter Cook of Paris, several grandchildren, siblings, Albert Cook & wife Vicki of Grand Prairie, Mae Francis of Farmersville, Gary Cook & wife Linda of Paris, Johnny Cook & wife Karen of Slabtown, Georgia McCool & husband Kenneth of Slabtown and Freddy Cook & wife Jo of Slabtown along with numerous nieces & nephews.
