Guy Joel Coward, age 76, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Brentwood Terrace in Paris. Cremation is under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home and no services are planned at this time. Joel was born on November 26, 1945 to Guy and Helen Pierce Coward. He joined the US Army at 17 years old and went on to a distinguished career before retiring from military service. He was awarded the Purple Heart and was the most decorated soldier in the Baytown, Texas area. He made many life-long friends in the military and frequently attended reunions around the country. He was guru at trivia and loved watching “Jeopardy”. Joel loved the Halloween season and passing out candy to the kids that would come by. He enjoyed the company of his four-legged companions, Boo and Sissy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Nancy Coward Jackson, two wives, Gerry Lynn Coward in 2001 and April Coward in 2018. His survivors include 3 children, Ellen C. Coward, Kanani L. Coward, and Trevor J. Coward; one brother, Jeffery P. Coward and wife, Sherry; as well as a special nephew, Geron Jackson and nieces Stephanie Hamilton and Emily Lusk.
