

Irene Hazel “Pud” Nichols, 96, of Paris passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled funeral services for 10:00 am, Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Detroit Church of Christ with Bro. Benny Cogburn and Bro. Jeff Blanton officiating. Burial will be made in Detroit Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 pm, Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Nichols was born January 23, 1920 in Red River County to Walter B. Jewett and Mary Ann Beck Jewett. She married John Melton Nichols October 2, 1939 in Detroit and he preceded her in death in 1989, building close to 50 years of family and memories. Mrs. Nichols was a longtime member of Detroit Church of Christ and in her later years she enjoyed attending the Fullbright Church of Christ. She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker. She made many of her children’s clothes. One of her favorite pastimes was going to Wal-Mart, because she loved shopping. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, six brothers and six sisters. Survivors include a son, Kenneth Nichols & wife Dorothy of Pattonville; two daughters, Patsy Bestul & husband Bruce of Deport and Linda Davidson & husband Charles of Deport; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, two sisters, Christian Sutton and Margaret Cavender, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be Jeff Nichols, Craig Nichols, Steven Davidson, Mark Farris, Scotty Nichols, Hunter Burris and Aaron Burris.
