Joe Daniel “Dan” Spears, 78, of Detroit, passed away Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Paris Regional Medical Center. A formal service will not be scheduled. Cremation was under the care & direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Dan, the son of Leonard & Melba Proctor Spears, was born Oct. 3, 1937, in Dallas. He graduated from Clarksville High School at the age of 17, and went on to graduate from the University of Texas in Austin. He received his Master’s degree from Columbia University in New York and became a licensed architect. His career as a teacher of architecture with the University of Texas in Arlington spanned 35 years before his retirement. Survivors include his spouse, Kevin Colonna, one brother, Jerry Spears & wife Sherry, a nephew, Ryan Spears & wife Amanda, along with a host of friends. .
