John Eric Bonnette (1942 - 2026) was a man of passions. He loved the opportunities for travel, learning and leadership he had while serving in the United States Navy for thirty-eight years. He liked the peace of being outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. There were many hours he spent around campfires playing his guitar and singing for his family to their great enjoyment. Flying as a private pilot and the freedom it brought was one of the joys that touched his heart. An avid fan of the Cowboys and the Yankees, he was there to yell and cheer through every game. Watches, railroads, ham radio, martial arts, motorcycles - he had a wide range of interests he participated in during his life. He did his best to truly experience what Life had to offer. He is loved and will be missed.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Delores Bonnette; his two daughters: Teresa Bonnette and her husband, John, and Cheryl Reilly and her husband, Everett; his two grandsons: Eric Reilly and Everett Reilly IV; his sisters: Susan Grady, Linda Edwards and Cynthia Van Landingham as well as an extended Southern Family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial will be held in Louisiana in the Fall. Details will be available at a later date.
