Katelynn West, 16, of Mt. Vernon, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at her home while surrounded by loved ones. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, Aug. 29th, at the Chapel of Harvey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home. Katelynn was born Aug. 15, 2000, in Sulphur Springs. The family was blessed to borrow a true angel for 16 years and 9 days. She was such a joy to every person that ever met her. So full of love that you couldn’t help but feel it any time you were near her. Katie’s favorite hobbies included: arts & crafts, collecting stuffed animals, watching home videos and talking about “the good old days”. Katie loved monkeys so much she never did stop asking for a pet monkey. She never got tired of watching the movie “Frozen” and anything Scooby Doo. Katie was lucky to have the best Daddy in the world. He loved her & cared for her better than any human ever could have. Maybe God sent another angel to guard his angel that he let us borrow. A grandfather, Charles Edward Heath, preceded her in death. Survivors include her father, Larry West of Mt. Vernon, her mother, Charlotte West of Mt. Vernon, grandmother, Joan Heath of Pasadena, one brother, Christopher West of Mt. Vernon, three sisters, Elizabeth West of Mt. Vernon, Julie Bolt & husband Glenn of Mt. Vernon and Miranda Shilling & husband Rodney of League City, one niece, Grace Bartko, two nephews, Keegan Shilling and Spencer Bartko (who was her best friend) along with extended family and many friends.
