Larry Lee Bestul of Powderly, Texas passed away November 27, 2022 at the age of 85. He was born December 17, 1936 in Harlan, Iowa to Lewis Thomas Bestul and Valeria Jacobson Bestul.
As a boy, Larry lived in Iowa and Grand Forks, North Dakota before moving to California. In March of 1954 he enlisted in the United States Air Force as a basic Airman. While in the U.S. Air Force, he advanced in his classifications as a mechanic and electrician and served as a Vehicle Operator. Larry received a National Defense Service Medal.
Following his years in the U.S. Air Force, Larry lived in California and was employed at Simpson Paper. He eventually moved to Powderly, Texas to be near family in the Paris, Texas area, and worked as a mechanic. Larry loved hot rods, motorcycles and 3-wheeled “trikes.” He built several “trikes” from the ground up.
Larry was a gifted mechanic. He loved watching wrestling and had a huge smile. He worked hard, and lived life as he wanted to. He was extremely proud to be an American and proud to be a veteran of the United States Armed Services.
Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
