With hearts that ache yet hands lifted in gratitude for her life, the family of LaTasha Marie Woods, age 43, of Detroit, Texas, announces her peaceful passing on November 11, 2025. LaTasha was born on February 15, 1982, and from her earliest years, she carried a light that made people feel held, seen, and loved.
LaTasha attended Justice Elementary School, Travis Junior High School, and was a proud graduate of Paris High School Class of 2001. Over the years, she worked in home healthcare, Visiting Angels, Kimberly Clark, We Pack, Buttons and Bows Daycare, and various community-centered jobs. But it was in caregiving her true calling; where her purpose shined the brightest.
In her work with home healthcare and Visiting Angels, LaTasha became a safe place for the sick, the elderly, and the shut-in. She cooked for them with love, cleaned their homes with care, bathed them with dignity, and sat beside them in their quietest hours. She held hands that trembled, eased fears without words, and brought laughter into rooms that had forgotten the sound of joy. When someone was approaching their final days, she made sure they were never alone. She offered presence, warmth, and a gentle spirit that made passing feel less frightening. Caring for others wasn’t just her job it was the natural language of her heart.
LaTasha loved hard and without hesitation. Her world centered around her son, Keigan Mitchell, the joy of her mornings and the pride of her life. Every day started with her laying eyes on him, grateful for another moment of motherhood. She treasured visiting her mother, Carolyn Marie Woods, and her grandmother Ms. Dorthy Jo Savage, finding comfort in their company and giving them comfort in return. She adored her family; calling them, checking on them, laughing with them, bugging them in the best way, and showing up whenever she was needed.
She is survived by her loving mother Carolyn Marie Woods; her cherished son Keigan Mitchell; Father of son & Special Friend Keith Mitchell; her devoted sister Elisha Woods-Louis; her loving brother Mason Fulbright; and a host of family and friends who were touched by her kindness. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Jamir DeShion Woods(2004) and Father Glen Edward Fulbright(2020), whose spirit she now joins in eternal peace.
LaTasha received her Final Earthly Celebration on November 22, 2025, at New Hope Baptist Church. Surrounded by family, friends, and community, she was released with love, honored with gratitude, and lifted into her transition with prayers and tears. The family celebrated her the way she lived full of warmth, faith, and connection. We entrusted her into the arms of our ancestors, believing with full hearts that she has transcended into a place of safety, rest, and reunion. We know she is held by God. We know she is with Jamir and Daddy again. And we know her light has not dimmed; it has simply risen.
LaTasha leaves behind a legacy of compassion, joy, and gentle strength. She made people feel better just by being in the room. And for that, she will be remembered. For that, she will be missed. For that, she will always be loved.
