

Services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 6th, at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Rheanolte LeBarbour officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Whitesboro Cemetery at Whitesboro, OK. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
Lorene was born Nov. 28, 1936, in Albion, OK to John Henry & Vera Pettyjohn, who were delighted with their first born child. She lived a busy and happy life surrounded by family and friends who loved her.
Lorene graduated from Midland (TX) High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education from Howard Payne College in Brownwood, TX and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Connecticut in Storrs. Lorene taught school for 38 years in Texas, Oklahoma, and Virginia, making a lasting impression in the lives of many young people. A dedicated member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Paris for 15 years, she was involved in the choir, Sunday School and many ministries of the church. She also devoted many hours to the work and ministries of the Women’s Missionary Society.
Lorene was pre-deceased by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law, Boyd (Doris) Pettyjohn.
Survivors include her longtime friend, Anna Keelin, her sister & brother-in-law, Annie Marie (Rheanolte) LeBarbour, her niece, Deborah (Waylon) Wilson and their two boys, Cole and Evan. She is also survived by several cousins and many friends.
Casket bearers will be: Ronnie Blair, Craig Bryant, Ricky Mackey, Greg Skidmore, Wayne Tomblin and William Wood.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to On Call Home Health and Platinum Hospice for the care given their loved one.
