Lorna will be remembered for her joyful spirit, her love for God, family and all who were close in her daily caregiving. Genuinely kind and always pleasant, she had an uplifting smile, warm-hearted laugh and soft little chuckle that touched hearts and brightened the environment. Her inner strength and confident endurance were a testament to the joy of the Lord in her life and singing songs throughout her day was an added boost in her merry heart, doing good like a medicine.
Lorna was born in 1933 to Daryl Eberle and Blanche Malone Rea in Sewickley, PA. She was the only daughter and sister of two brothers, Eryth and Vance. She excelled in school and had a passion for music, theater and the arts. She played the piano, violin, glockenspiel and the ukulele. She was a beautifully gifted soprano, singing in lead roles of high school musicals, church choir and solos throughout community events. She recorded a “45” RPM record at an early age that could be heard on the family’s Victrola.
In 1954, Lorna met her husband-to-be in a tennis tournament. ‘Playing for love’ took on new meaning as she became the lovingly devoted wife to John J. (Jack) Goshorn. They were active in church, community, social events and sports. They built their first home together in Holiday Hills of Washington, PA, where they raised their daughter, Deborah, and son, James, along with their first, adorable beagle, Chrissy. Most special was how she filled her home with love and music. Praise and worship were foundational.
Lorna was creatively artistic, actively engaging and a fun-loving Mom to her children and to her grandsons, Devin and Drew. They were pure enjoyment, and she made the absolute most of quality time shared with them throughout their growing years. She was a woman of wisdom, integrity and an inspiration to family and those she encountered through various responsibilities. She saw the best in people and poured out so much kindness in being present and available to all in need. A real friend, a true and trustworthy confidante, Lorna knew how to be. Nothing selfish about her and in all her ways she gave of her time, talent, attention, encouragement and honest insight.
Lorna was thrilled to recently become a Great Grandma to
Bramley and Benji, sharing a birthdate with the youngest. Honoring the legacy through her loving children is the goodness of God and His faithfulness. Well done, Mom, you’ve given keepsakes and treasures to behold and remember. We miss and love you “to infinity and beyond”.
