

Morris Wayne Smith, 75, of Paris, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Legend Healthcare and Rehabilitation. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Friday, August 21, 2015 at Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Ken Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends, at the funeral home, one hour prior to service time, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm. Morris was born February 3, 1940 in Pattonville to Morris Dickerson Smith and Ruby Miller Smith. While in school, Morris was a proud member of the Blossom Bulldogs Basketball team, who won the State Championship in 1958. He married Melba Sue Stone in 1962 and she preceded him in death in 2001, after building over 39 years of family and memories. Morris was employed at Earthgrains for many years and he was a faithful, proud member of First Baptist Church in Paris. Along with his loving wife, he was preceded in death by his parents. Those left behind to remember him are his beloved son, Lance Smith of Paris; a loving cousin Donald Bunch & wife Cindy of Bedford along with other cousins, Russell Smith of Reston, VA, Letha Smith Mayfield of Lubbock and Janene Smith Kerley of Abilene; a special friend, Jim Heavner & wife Sammie of Paris as well as a host of other friends. Casket bearers will be Philip Risinger, Paul Garrett, Jerrel Herron, Durwood Foote, Bob Weddle and Jim Heavner.
