

He was born in Paris, TX on Aug. 27, 1942. After high school Bob joined the United States Marine Corp. He served in the Marine Corp for 20 years (1960-1980) which included three tours in Vietnam. He earned many awards and medals during his career.
Bob was also a great athlete. He played some college football and went on to play semi-pro for the Manitowoc Chiefs. He was inducted into the Semi-pro Football Hall of Fame in 2013.
He achieved the highest ranks in Taekwondo and Judo, studying under some of the greatest. Bob was also an avid golfer and spent most days on the golf course after retirement.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Pipkin (Kevin), his son, Kevin Cain (Christi), five grandchildren, Kari Sides, Alex Plexico, Matthew Plexico, Kelly Harlin, and Wesley Cain, five great grandchildren, one great great granddaughter, one sister, Cupadyne Burdick, and his honorary daughter and caregiver, Kathy Dillen along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Harvlyn Cain, his father, Arthur Cain, his mother, Opal Byram Burdick, his step-father, Sam Burdick, daughter, Kimberly Dee Cain, step-son, Jimmy Cain, brother, Crawford Cain, and sister, Josephine “Sharon” Cain Hunt.
Bob spent his last three years at Clyde Cosper Texas Veterans Home in Bonham, TX where he was greatly loved and cared for. The family appreciates them immensely.
Bob will be honored with a military service and be placed in a National Cemetery in Alabama at a later date. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any Alzheimer’s or Dementia Foundation.
