Ruby Gleen Latimer

Ruby Gleen Latimer, 92, of Blossom, passed away at her home, Friday, September 9, 2016. Bright-Holland Funeral Home has scheduled services for 2:00 pm, Monday, September 12, 2016, at the New Life Church of the Nazarene in Blossom, with Dr. Michael Gentry and Reverend Charles Wells officiating. Burial will follow in Knights of Honor Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm, Monday at the church. Mrs. Latimer was born August 23, 1924 in Red River County to John Davenport and Mary Ollie Durham Davenport. She married Samuel Edward “Ted” Latimer, December 21, 1940 and he preceded her in death on January 21, 1999, having built over 59 years of family and memories. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bill Davenport, three sisters, Edna Miner, Bessie Freelen and Jessie Freelen and a special daughter-in-law, Judy Latimer. Mrs. Latimer was an avid seamstress. She loved crocheting, reading books and tending to her grandkids. Her career as an LVN, working at both McCuistion and St. Joseph Hospitals, spanned over 28 years. During her nursing career she made many life-long friends. Survivors include her children, Dorothy Kay Sanders of Blossom, Mary Harp & husband Gary of Greenville, Jimmy Latimer & wife Mary of Blossom, Glen Latimer of Fort Worth, Patricia Ann Anderson & husband Bryan and Ruby P. Latimer; 19 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Casket bearers will be Mark Steelman, Gary Latimer, Justin Latimer, Samuel Latimer, Jesse Fleming and Michael King.
