

Virginia Belle “Miss Belle” Hargroves, 91, of Paris, passed away Tuesday, January 05, 2016, at Springlake Assisted Living. Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7th at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 – 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Hargroves, the daughter of Tom Green & Annie Mae Matthews McFadden, was born May 7, 1924, in Lamar County. She graduated from Paris High School and East Texas Teacher’s College. Her teaching career of 36 years began in 1942, at Kensing. She then went to Hudsonville where she was principal. In 1945, she began teaching at Delmar where she retired in 1983. Belle was a member of Southside Baptist Church and the Esther Sunday School Class. On Nov. 4, 1945, she married James Hargroves, building 68 years of family and memories before his death on Jan. 6, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Sue Peters & her husband Thomas and two sisters-in-law, Maxcine Hargroves and Margaret Dempsey. Survivors include a son, Don Hargroves & wife Sherry of Knoxville, TN, a daughter, Brenda Darnell & husband Mike of Paris, two grandchildren, Rachel King and Brandon Hargroves, one great grandson, Brendan King, a brother-in-law, George Hargroves along with numerous nieces & nephews and a host of friends. If desired, memorials may be made to the Esther Sunday School Class, c/o Southside Baptist Church, 790 Jefferson Rd., Paris, TX 75460 or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 3102 Maple Ave. #120, Dallas, TX 75201. Casket bearers will be: Bobby Hargroves, Larry Trapp, Junior Larkin, Wade Hocutt, Clint Hocutt and George Newberry.
