Wanda Jean (Bowman) Burns

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22nd at Bright-Holland Funeral Home with Rev. Buddy Greer officiating. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Burns, the daughter of J. R. (Pude) Bowman and Lula Dixson Bowman, was born Jan. 27, 1933, in Lamar County, TX.

She graduated as Salutatorian from Delmar High School in 1949 and graduated as Valedictorian from Paris Junior College in 1952. She retired from Jones Automotive after many years of service to the company.

Wanda was a faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Paris since 1982. She played the piano by ear and was the substitute pianist at her church. She had a love of Southern Gospel Music, and was known for her sugar cookies. Knowing her fondness and love for animals, the family has requested that memorials be made to Baby Gunn’s Animal Rescue, 601 CR 43340, Paris, TX 75462.

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. R. (Pude) & Lula Bowman, a sister, Pauline Price & her husband Lloyd, a niece, Shirley Skidmore, a nephew, Tommy Gibson, a great nephew, Kevin Gibson, and a special friend, Mary Jane Lowry.

Survivors include two sons who were her greatest love, Eric Burns & wife Gala and Craig Burns & wife Pam, bonus-kids, Casey & Tami Harbuck & family and David & CC Blake & family, grandchildren, Tina & Brian Vanderburg, Mandy & Erik Chapman, Tye & Kim Bivens, and Zach & Jessica Bivens, great grandchildren, Dakota & Kateleigh Vanderburg, Laney Vanderburg, Rylee Chapman, Austyn Bivens, Mason Johnson, Ryan Sandusky, Austin Sandusky, Carter Bivens, Cameron Bivens, and Easton Bivens, a great great granddaughter, Josey Vanderburg, nieces & nephews, Sue Gibson, Dwight Skidmore, Robert & Cathy Price, and Lawrence Ray & Teri Price, numerous great nieces and great nephews, the father of her sons, Gene Burns, and a plethora of friends including a very special friend, Barbara Sloan.

Casket bearers will be: Brian Skidmore, Alan Skidmore, Tracy Gibson, Rodney Price, Stephen Price, and Derrick Blake.

The family would like to extend appreciation to Legend Healthcare, Paris Regional Health Emergency Room, and the 4th floor step down nursing staff for the care given their loved one.
