Darlene and family,  I was saddened to read of Bubba's death.  He was a favorite of mine, with his mischievous smile and always  a story to tell.  He loved his land and the family history associated with it.  I considered it an honor to have worked with him on various legal issues.  I didn't realize that I would also get the rest of the family as clients, too!  What a loss for Lamar County.  Mary Clark

Darlene, I was very saddened by the loss of Buba your extraordinary husband and partner, I remember often of the trips my mother Martha Lee Hamilton Simmons would take us to Howland. Something the family always looked forward to. We would get to see Little Buba, Edward, Judy, Bay, Bobbie Lou and Mattie Belle. Big Buba and Robbie would welcome my family and always have the dining room table set for everyone.  We were living in Pittsburg, Pa., Geelong, Australia, Vancouver, WA. or Midland, Tx. but we would in the summer when we were out of school be able to see the Justiss's. Little Buba was so much a part of our trip. He will always be in my fondest memories growing up

I would like to offer my condolences to Joseph, William, and the rest of the family on Buba's passing.  He was the patriarch of that family, and he will surely be missed.  He and Dad were good friends, and Dad had an immense amount of respect for Buba as a family man and as a farmer and rancher.  Buba was also one of the last surviving members of the old American Agricultural Movement (AAM).  Buba, along with my dad and thousands of other farmers across the nation, drove their tractors to Washington DC in 1979 in order to protest farm prices.

I am so sad to learn that Buba has gone on ahead of us.  I remember when I was a news reporter in Paris and there was a Congressional campaign going on.  Lots of people threw their hats into the ring but Sam Hall was my favorite.  One day at Sarah and Bill's I was singing his praises.  Buba was there, too and we were discussing the different people running. I went on and on about Sam Hall.  At the time I lived in the little house across the road from Buba.  One day right after that I returned home to find the front yard absolutely COVERED in Sam Hall signs, courtesy of Buba. We laughed and laughed about it!

I hadn’t seen y’all in awhile at Kroger I know you will miss him. Last time I visited with him in truck always enjoyed our visits on the parking lot.
