Leroy Rodney McVey, age 83, went to be with the Lord on May 6, 2018. Leroy was born on April 23, 1935 to Genevieve McVey Cossell and Rodney McVey in Parker, Arizona. Leroy graduated from Parker High School in 1953 and married his wife Gloria McVey (née. Martinez) in 1956. Leroy was a respectful, strong, intelligent and caring man whose wisdom impacted all who met him. Leroy was an Exalted ruler of Parker Elks Lodge #1929 from 1967-1968, a Poston Rotary board member from 1977-1980, a councilman on the Parker Town Council from 1968-1970 and served as the Mayor of Parker from 1970 to 1973. In addition, in his younger years, he was also the general manager at the local Chevrolet dealership in Parker and sold John Deere farm equipment. After retirement, Leroy enjoyed selling cars at Parker Motor Company. Leroy enjoyed reading the paper, watching the Diamondbacks games, browsing for his next vehicle and adding boots to his impressive collection. His greatest love, pride and joy was his family, whom cherish their memories of him.
Leroy is preceded in death by his parents Genevieve and Rodney McVey, Sister Aidra Leivas and Brother Robert McVey. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Gloria McVey; sons whom he so loved, Rodney McVey (Jill) and Steven McVey; grandchildren whom he was proud of, Danielle Pearlstein (Craig), Tahnee Lanford (Nick), Ryan McVey (Gabriela); great-grandchildren whom he adored Avery and Owen Pearlstein; Aunt’s, Patricia Gough and Theo DeMontiney; nieces, nephews, great-nieces & nephews; cousins and the many friends he made throughout his life. Leroy will be sincerely missed by all.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 9:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1101 S. Joshua Ave, Parker, AZ 85344.
