When I think about Peter, the first word that comes to my mind is peace. Peter was a man who truly knew how to just live life. He didn’t look for trouble, he didn't bother anybody, and he walked through this world with a quiet, gentle grace. He had a rare gift in this busy world: the ability to contentedly embrace life exactly as it came.
At the very center of Peter’s heart was his faith and his absolute passion for reading. He didn’t just respect the Word of God; he truly loved it. Peter spent countless hours reading the Scriptures and listening to the Word, finding a deep sense of comfort, guidance, and strength in his personal relationship with the Lord. But his love for the written word didn't stop there. Peter was a true reader at heart—someone who found genuine joy in the quiet companionship of a good book. He loved the feel of the pages, the focus it required, and the way reading allowed him to quietly explore new ideas and deep truths at his own pace. Books were a constant anchor in his daily routine, bringing immense richness to his quiet hours.
This deep love for reading naturally fueled his brilliant, curious mind. He was an avid follower of current affairs and possessed an incredible wealth of knowledge about history and war, largely built from the countless historical pages he poured over through the years. He understood the world deeply, anchoring his quiet spirit with a sharp intellect that loved to learn and analyze the events of both the past and the present.
But Peter also had a vibrant, joyful side. He absolutely loved his rock and roll music Those classic sounds stayed with him from his young adult years, keeping him connected to a rhythm and raw energy that never faded. It was a reminder to all of us that beneath his quiet exterior was a strong soul that loved to feel alive.
Along with the music, Peter possessed a beautiful, deep connection to art. He carried a strong relationship with the creative gift that was handed down to him from his sister, Natalie. Through that bond, Peter saw the beauty in the world. Art was a language he shared, a visual expression of the depth and color he carried inside his soul that connected him so uniquely to Natalie’s spirit.
Above all things on this earth, Peter loved his family. His love for his brothers was fierce, loyal, and deep—they were his core, and he held a profound devotion to them. And if there is one thing we are all going to miss processing, it is the daily soundtrack of Peter checking in on us. We are going to deeply miss those 50 phone calls a day he would give to each of us. Peter knew the math—he knew that if he kept calling, the odds were pretty darn good that one of us would answer the phone, and he never missed an opportunity to connect. Whether he was calling his brothers, his sisters, or checking in on his nieces and nephews, those persistent calls were his unique way of wrapping his arms around us from afar.
He shared a beautiful, distinct bond within our family. Between his strong ties to his brothers, Bobby and David, the ever so often opportunities to visit with Brad via phone, his shared creative spirit with Natalie, and the way Candace would consistently call and check in on him too, his life was completely wrapped up in the love and constant connection of his siblings.
Among all of his deep family connections, Peter held a special bond with our mother that was absolutely undeniable. It was the kind of relationship that beautifully illustrated how a true, pure love between a mother and her son can never be broken. No matter
where life took him, his heart always remained anchored to her, and that warmth radiated whenever they were together.
Peter didn’t need a grand stage or flashy titles to make an impact; his legacy is the simple, honest love he gave to his family, his endless check-in calls, and the genuine, uncomplicated way he carried himself through this life.
We are going to miss his quiet spirit, his love for the Word, and the unique blend of rock and roll and art that made him exactly who he was. But we take great comfort in knowing that Peter is now resting peacefully in the arms of the God he spent so much time reading about. His earthly journey is complete, but the love he left in our hearts will remain forever.
Rest in Paradise.
