

Beatrice “Peggy” Griffith, 89, formerly of 4403 Jefferson Street, passed away June 26, 2016 at Eagle Pointe Nursing Home. She was a devoted wife, partner, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was born February, 3, 1927 in Sandyville, WV to Lawrence and Mary Riggs Conger. She was a beautiful young cheerleader during her senior year at Gilmore High School.
Peggy devoted her life to her family, raising three sons while volunteering as a Cub Scout den mother as well as supporting all of her boy’s interests through the years and later on cared for other children. She and Dad traveled all over the country (including Germany) to be with their sons, daughter-in-laws and grandchildren. She spent countless hours serving her church and was presently a member of Bible Baptist Church in Parkersburg. She loved working outdoors with her plants, flowers & garden and enjoyed sewing, ceramics, painting, reading and jigsaw puzzles.
Peggy is survived by her three boys, Roger (Donna), Randy (Sheila) and David (Dianne); grandchildren, Rhonda, Wendy, Alison, Kelly and Luke; great grandchildren, Alexandria, Samantha, Ash and Breanna ; sister, Opal, brother Junior and sister-in-law, Jackie. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Jim, infant brother Johnny and brother Clement.
Thank you to the caregivers that helped keep Mom at home for as long as she was able and a debt of gratitude is extended to Peggy’s Eagle Pointe family, both staff and residents who loved her; we will never ever forget her smile.
Services will be Friday at 3:00 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with
Pastor Dan Stevens officiating. Music provided by Paul White and Dan Stevens. Visitation will be 2 hours before the service. Interment will be at Sunset Memory Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.sunsetparkersburg.com.
