

ATHENS- Betty Anne Ball, age 94, of Athens formerly of Parkersburg, WV, died Monday September 22, 2025 at the home of her son in Athens. Born February 4, 1931 in Parkersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward S. Fox and Helen Virginia (Drennen) Fox.
A graduate of Parkersburg High School, she served as Area Clerk for the Soil and Water Conservation Service with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, covering 16 counties in West Virginia. She received numerous accolades for her work over the years, including a Superior Service Award from the Secretary of the USDA. She retired after 32 years of service.
She was an active member of the Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Mineral Wells, WV. She was active in the Church’s Bible Study, United Methodist Women, Food Pantry and the Kid’s Christmas Shopping Program activities.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra A. Ball of Athens; and her son and daughter in law, Edward E. & Sandy Ball of Athens.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Everett Eugene “Gene” Ball, who passed away in 2002; and a sister, Patsy Butcher.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on October 7 at the Chapel of Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery, Parkersburg, WV conducted by Rev. Dr. Steve Gedon. Interment of Cremains will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
