Dorothy E. Riggs

She was born August 23, 1940 in Parkersburg, WV, a daughter of the late Homer Myers and Gladys Hewitt Myers.

Dorothy retired from Wood County Board of Education. She enjoyed canning, cooking, and grocery shopping with her husband. She was a loving wife, mom, and grandma. She will be greatly missed.

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, A. Clairmont Riggs; daughters, Lutricia (David) Shaffer of Cutler, OH, Melissa (Todd) Cottrell of Mineral Wells, WV; son, Bryan M. Riggs of Mineral Wells; grandchildren, Cody Cottrell, Amber (Jack) Cottrell, Courtney (Brandon) Shaffer, Ashley Shaffer, David Jr. Shaffer, and great-grandchildren, Lilly Cover, and Anna Mae.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her 2 brother, Charles and Ira Myers; three sisters, Helen Leonard, Olive Myers and Lena Ashlock.

Funeral services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday August 8, 2023 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Entombment to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 5 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday, August 7, 2023 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
