Edward Wayne Metz

He was born February 25, 1945 in Parkersburg, WV, a son to the late William Metz and Geraldine Jones Metz.

Wayne worked as a salesman for State Electric, where he took pride in his work and the skills he built over the years. In his free time, he enjoyed watching westerns and spending time on his PlayStation, especially playing NASCAR and golf games. He loved the outdoors, whether it was hunting, shooting BB guns, or participating in competitive archery. Wayne also cherished time spent with family, especially playing and making memories with his cousin Dan. He enjoyed taking short trips to Amish country, relaxing beach vacations, and had a strong interest in learning about history. He will be so very missed and will forever hold a special place in the hearts of those who loved him.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donelda Metz; son, Roger “JR”; daughters, Karen, Susie, Patricia; grandchildren, Justin, Janell, Nicholas, Shealey, Brandon, Linza, Skylar, Adam; great-granddaughter, Clementine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, son-in-law, Rick and his first wife, Betty.

Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday April 21, 2026 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Kidd officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 4PM to 7PM Monday April 20, 2026 at the funeral home.
