Gary W. Snyder

Gary Wayne Snyder, 57, of Mineral Wells, WV left this world of suffering and went to meet the Great Carpenter on May 31, 2013 with his family and friends around him. Gary fought a valiant fight against cancer this last year.

Gary, the youngest son of the late Wilber W. and Vada Myers Snyder, was born in Parkersburg on January 19, 1956. In addition to his father, Gary was preceded in death by his grandson Leland, his brother Dale, and his sister Wanda Lott.

In addition to his mother, our loved one is survived by his daughters, Betty Jo Green Davis and her husband Scott, Amber Dawn Snyder and her fiancé, Eric Baileys, and his son, Gary Lee Snyder. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Breanna, Bryley, Bralene, and Bradin, all of Mineral Wells. Gary is survived by his siblings, Paul and his wife Anna Belle, Nellie Gaston, Ruth and her husband Donald Drain, Stanley and his wife Linda, Janet and her husband David Burton, and his brother Gerald, all of the Parkersburg area. Gary is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Gary’s long time four-footed friend, Cujo, will sorely miss him and the truck rides they used to have.

Gary graduated from Parkersburg South High School class of 1975. He loved NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhart, hunting, stock car racing, and being a carpenter. Gary was meticulous in details of the job. He enjoyed being outside and working with his hands. He told his grandson, “Pap can fix most anything, but he can’t fix himself”.

A special “Thank You” goes to Joni Wigal and Chanda Lott, health care providers, Julie and Andrea, massage therapists at Health South, and Barbara Miller for all the care and love you gave our loved one, Gary Wayne Snyder.

Visitation will be Monday, June 3, 2013, from 1-3 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, and the Funeral Service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Carroll Verlin Camp officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunset Memory Gardens. Having been raised on a farm, Gary asked that visitors wear blue jeans and a casual shirt.
