George William Chaney, Jr. (Bill) passed away peacefully on October 20, 2026, at the age of 87. Born January 12,1939 in Wheeling, WV to George William Chaney, Sr and Sylvia Mae Ellison Chaney, Bill graduated from Triadelphia High School in 1956. He married Charlotte Rae Wilson on December 31, 1959, and was wholly devoted to her for their nearly 67 years together. Bill and Charlotte raised four children together, beginning in Wheeling WV and moving to the Parkersburg area in 1969. Bill loved being around people and never knew a stranger. He was a hard worker who provided well for his family. His whole career was spent driving truck, having driven several million miles without an accident. He was especially proud that he never had an accident involving another person or vehicle. In 1983 he helped his sons start Lubeck Tire Service, still in business, and now owned and operated by his youngest son. Bill loved NASCAR, Pittsburgh Steelers, John Deere tractors, Ford vehicles, riding with Charlotte on their Harley Davidson motorcycle, presidents Reagan and Trump, and his dog, Cooper. He was the best dog grandpa ever. Even in his final months, Bill would be outside mowing, cutting firewood, burning brush, or whatever outside chores needed done. Bill was predeceased by his parents George and Sylvia Chaney. He leaves behind his wife Charlotte, four children: Rhonda (Glen) Olberding, Noblesville IN; Douglas (Sheri) Chaney, Washington WV; Donna Chaney-Sayre (Keith Sayre), Madison WV; Paul Chaney (Heather Haught), Washington WV. Four grandchildren: John (Gloria) Olberding, Madison WI; Hannah (Ian) Gambill, Charleston, WV; Nathan (Jessica) Olberding, Waukesha, WI; Evan Sayre, Pittsburgh PA. Three great-grandchildren: Caleb Olberding, Sylvia Olberding, Shane Olberding. He also leaves a brother, Roy (Julie) Chaney, Greer SC; sister-in-law Rebecca (Buck) Walters, Triadelphia WV; brother-in-law Phil (Nancy) Wilson, Wheeling WV and several nieces and nephews. We rejoice that Bill trusted his Savior Jesus Christ, who died for his sins, providing the way to heaven, where he now rests in the presence of God.
