

He was born June 18, 1939 in Parkersburg, WV , a son of the late Harley Smith Sr. and Ethel Criss Smith.
Harley retired from DuPont after 37 years of service. Outside of his professional life, Harley was a man who loved to travel and most of all, spend time with his family. He cherished the times spent with his friends and family. Whether sharing a laugh, telling a story, or planning his next adventure, he brought joy and connection to those around him. Harley’s legacy of kindness, laughter, and dedication will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will remain a source of love and strength for his family and friends.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 63 years, Maxine McClead Smith; daughters, Tammy (Robert) Busch, Carole (Chris) Gray, Gail (Brian) Murray; grandchildren, Roger (Lucresha) Busch, Brandon (Renee) Jones, Dylan Hall, Logan Hall, Whitney (Ryan) Westbrook, Cole Murray, Ella Gray, Andy (Gracie) Gray; great grandchildren, Savannah Jones, Hudson Jones, Kasen Burrows, Lyla Westbrook; brothers, Jerry (Rebecca) Smith, John (Pam) Smith; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers, and granddaughter, Erikia Marie Jones.
Graveside service will be 1 P.M. Monday November 3, 2025 at Sunset Memory Gardens.
