Aunt Rose, Aloha, Summer, James, Dora, and Aunt Ellen.
Once again our hearts have been broken and eyes filled with tears. But when I think of the wonderful memories I have, my face glows and my heart smiles! So, to each of you this is my wish...take time everyday to think, reflect and talk about Uncle Simmie. Hold him close in your heart. Comfort and peace will slowly find you. Yes, he now resides in Heaven and is watching over each of you, at peace...no more pain. Just imagine him with grandma, grandpa, all of his brothers (being bad) and his sisters just shaking their heads. Yes, we are the SCOTT family and we are LOVE (look at the pictures I posted). Dear Scott family, I was deeply saddened to see Jims obituary in the newspaper.  He was a good friend to my late husband and myself, living around the corner from us for well over 35 years.  Just last Saturday I was going through things and came upon pictures that I took when we had a block party on that one block of Charles St. One of the pictures had Jim, my husband Hamp and little Maggie Brown in it, and I remembered the good time we all had that afternoon.  I will surely miss seeing him around the neighborhood.  My prayers are with you, he is in a much better place, but you will miss his physical presence with you. I am sorry that I am unable to attend his services, I have been sick, and the meds make me so sleepy, I don't want to risk driving., but I will be there in spirit.

Scottie and my dad (James C. Latham) were very good friends at one time and I can remember going to visit Scottie as a little girl. He was always so kind. When I'd run into Scottie years later, he would always remember my name and ask how my dad was doing. The last time I saw him was 2-1/2 years ago when my father passed away. He sat in the very back of the funeral home and had come to pay his last respects for an old friend. I never got the chance to talk with him after that. I love you Scottie...and please let my dad know how much I miss and love him when you see him.

To the family of Mr. Scottie
Hello-my name is Tracey Davis-Thomas, And I'm originally from parkersburg.All my life we called him Mr. scottie- he was a dear friend of my grandfathers-Alyosius Davis & his family. Mr. Scottie was like an uncle to us; he always opened his heart to us kids and looked out for us.  WhenI returned home I always sought him out to talk to. I would see him at the legion or at families homes. The last time we ere home we ask about him, because unlike inthe past he wasn't around or at the legion.  I will miss him dearly and that endearing smile and presence. To the family I never had the pleasure of meeting you, but he was a "UNIQUE GEM".  Rest assured he is in heaven, and back with a dear friend Al Davis.  Our family sends their prayers.  I t willnot be the same going home& he not being there.

Aunt Rose, Aloha, Dora, James and Summer, my heart goes out to you as you face going on without Uncle Simmie.  I'll always remember his trips home to Virginia and how his face reflected his pride and joy when he spoke of or gazed upon his family.  He was much loved, blessed and just plain lucky and he knew it.  He's resting in peace now . . . well, when his brothers will let him stop laughing and his older sisters aren't telling him what to do!

Don't think of Uncle Simmie as gone away, his journey as just begun. Life holds many phases this earth is only one, just think of Uncle Simmie as resting from the sorrows and tears in a place of warmth and comfort where there is no days no nights or years.   For  Mathrew 11:28 tells us to come to HIM all who are weary and heavy laden for HE will give us rest.

To the family of Scottie,he was like a brother to my family. He lived in the apartment above me and my dad on Avery street and was always there to help me when caring for my dad Aloysius.
Every time I would return home for a visit, I would go the legion on Avery street to get my bear hug from Scottie. He will be missed.

My dad was a good man. I will always remember he was walking around the hallway it was myself, greg,my mother,and my children I had asked "Dad lets take a walk in the kitchen he walked in paying no mind,and I kinda started to laugh a little, and I remember mom looking at me and telling me that Im so bad and as soon as he left the kitchen he noticed something wasnt right. He turned around and notice that the island we had (big looking table) was gone the first thing comes out of his mouth was nooooooooooooo". I lost it laughing. My husband (Greg) told me that I wasnt right. Thats one of the best memories I have besides him screaming when mom cut his hair. Dad I love you and I will always miss you. Hope your doing ok and that your happy that your not in pain anymore. I LOVE YOU.
