He was born January 15, 1937 in Charleston, WV, a son of the late Frank Anderson and Phyllis Lanham Anderson.
Joseph graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1956, where he played baseball and football, and he was highly skilled at both. A jack-of- all trades and a master of most of them, he had many jobs and careers over the decades. He worked as a glass cutter, police officer, Brothers Gas Station, and owned A &W Root Beer in Parkersburg, just to name a few. He was very skilled in maintenance and carpentry. When Joseph wasn’t hard at work he enjoyed woodworking and most of all being with his family. You could usually find him outside, mowing his grass or working on some project. He was a man of strong faith and attended Sams Creek Baptist Church where he had been active for many years. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed the time he and his friends spent riding together. Joseph touched so many lives and although we know he is rejoicing in heaven, he will be missed here on earth.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 26 years, Carol Anderson; daughters, Kathy Boyce, Nancy Doyle; sons, John (Tammy) Litman, Alan (Tracy) Litman; grandchildren, LeighAnn Boyce, Kaylee Litman, Lora Litman, April Doyle, Chelsea Doyle, Ashley (Adam) Sanders; great-grandchildren, Sydney Sanders, Hayley Sanders, Kurtis Kerns, Klara Litman, Evie Bean Scott, Ramon Scott, and Briggs Wyatt.
