Joyce Ann Brown

Joyce Ann Wilson Brown, 73, was born on March 14, 1945, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, and went home to be with Jesus on December 27, 2018.

Joyce was a homemaker who deeply loved her family, including many fur babies. A long-time resident of Wood County, she was a devoted Christian and known as someone always eager to help another in need. Joyce is survived by George Brown, her husband of 52 years, and sons, Scott (Rhonda) and Michael (Stacey), who she treasured. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law, Robert Brown and Roger Barker, as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her mother and father, Clara Casto Wilson and George Wilson, and Clara’s sister and brother-in-law, Opal Casto Bowman and Charles Bowman, who lovingly raised Joyce as their own from the age of two, when Clara and George passed. Also preceding her in death are sisters, Sharon Wilson and Janice Wilson Barker.

Services for Joyce will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Monday, December 31. Visitation will be at 10am, with the service at 11, officiated by Pastor Steve Gedon. Joyce will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Gardens immediately thereafter.

Joyce was always making jokes. She and my mom had a lot of fun together. She was more like a sister to mom than a sister-n-law.

Joy was my Aunt in Law.. Always treated me as family in the 30 years I've known her.. Could always make me laugh.. She was a wonderful person inside and out. I have great memories of her.. family get togethers..or just a phone call to check on us..I will greatly miss you.. Thanks for being you..Rest in Heavenly Peace. Love You!!

Joyce(Mom) was A very special lady and I will miss her greatly. I loved the talks we would have. I will miss going camping, Sunday dinners and any time I could spend with her. I love you, Mom.
