Karen Sue Smith

Karen Sue Smith, age 83, of Parkersburg, West Virginia passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on February 22, 1942 in Cuyahoga Falls, OH to the late William and Delsie Greathouse.

Karen was a member of Boggs Fork Community Church in Spencer, WV. She enjoyed sewing, scrapbooking and most of all spending time with her beloved grandchildren. Karen had a big heart and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Those left behind to cherish her memory and carry on her story are her daughters: Robin (Timothy) Utt, Lisa (Dean) Hays, Tara (Nate) Newbanks: sister; Peggy (Don) Alvis of Spencer, WV; grandchildren, Nicole (Tayla)Kemp-Hays, Brooks (Abby) Utt, Ashleigh Utt, Kiley Goldsmith, Landon Utt; great-granddaughter; Rosemary Kemp-Hays, several nieces and nephews and most of all her beloved companion, Benji.

Karen was preceded in death by her loving parents, her husband, William and brother, Kevin

The family would like to thank the following: Amedisys Hospice, ACU nursing floor at Camden Clark, Dr. Kim Stooke, and her caregivers, Bev Eason and Tina Boston for all the great care they gave to Karen.

The services will take place at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, October, 24, 2025 at 11:00 am. with burial to follow. Visitation will take place Thursday, October 23, 2025 from 5-8 at the funeral home.
