He was born July 27, 1967, in Parkersburg, WV, to James and Evonne Hickenbottom.
Ken attended Williamstown High School, where he was very active and remained connected to his peers long after graduation. He enlisted in the U.S. Army at just 17 years old, proudly serving his country for 3 years before being honorably discharged. After his military service, he earned his degree in communications from DeVry University and went on to build a long and respected career with AT&T and Marietta Memorial Health System. Ken married the love of his life, Kim Morrison, on June 15, 1991, at Peoples Church in Boaz, where they first met. Together they faithfully served Jesus side by side for 34 years of marriage. He loved God, loved his family deeply, and always encouraged others to do the same. He was a man of kindness, humility, humor, and integrity-always the first to lend a helping hand. His love and compassion were beyond measure. Ken was also an avid sports fan and a loyal supporter of WVU. He loved spending time restoring and admiring cars, often sharing that passion with friends and family. He had a deep heart for missions, traveling the world to share the love of Jesus wherever he went. Ken’s warmth, faith, and laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving parents, James and Evonne Hickenbottom; devoted wife, Kim; daughters, Kenzie, Kristina (Devin) Heitz; his beloved grandson Micah, who lovingly called him “Papaw.”; sister, Kimberly (Steve) Wallace; their children and spouses and 4 grandsons; mother-in-law, Betty Morrison; several special aunts, uncles, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends whom he dearly loved.
