

Lester V. Thompson, 77, of Parkersburg, went home to be with the Lord on March 27, 2012 surrounded by his family.
He was born Jan. 15, 1935 in Rockport, WV, a son of the late Gilbert and Rosie Nell Thompson. He worked at Universal Glass, and retired from Walker System. He was a member of Southside Southern Baptist, and was an avid hunter, fisherman, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Randall Lee Thompson and his wife, Donna, of Davisville, and Kevin Eugene Thompson and his wife, Angela, of Parkersburg; three daughters, Patti Kaye Rumbaugh and her husband, Ronnie, of Hurricane, WV, Kimberly Sue Adkins and her husband, Jeff, of Gay, and Rebecca Lynn Judy and her husband, Ed, of Parkersburg; eight grandchildren, Heather Cain, Randy Thompson, Jr., Rachel Lemon, Ty Adkins, Laura Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Shawn Judy and Jasmine Judy; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Etsel Thompson, and Michael Thompson; sisters, Linda Carpenter, and Geraldine Beeson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Thompson, sister, Velma Doddrill, and son-in-law, Tim Lemon.
Services will be 11 am Friday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Rev. Paul Drake officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
