
Opal M. (Hickman) Ford, 88, of Washington, passed away Jan. 27, 2011 at Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
She was born Jan. 21, 1923 in Wood County, WV a daughter of the late Henry and Alice Stephens Ware. She had been employed by GC Murphy and was a member of the 1st Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by two sons, Charles Hickman, and David (Debbie) Hickman; two daughters, Thelma Kimes, and Sharon (Bud) Seaman; seven grandchildren, one very special granddaughter, Angela, who was inspired to pursue a nursing career and care of Alzheimer’s patients because of her grandmother’s affliction; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother; and two sisters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Ed Kimes; three sisters; two brothers; and special friend and roommate for several years, Maddie Robinson.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Keith Hostutler officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
